I was actively involved with HSMAI’s MEET last year (formerly Affordable Meetings) by managing a big portion of the social media for the series of trade shows designed to educate meeting professionals while delivering exposure to a wide variety of hotels, resorts, convention centers, destinations, and all types of venues. The first two of the show have already been held this year and attendance was up as was exhibitors. It further suggests a rebound in the meetings industry. National, the largest and most well attended of the three, is coming up this September in Washington, D.C. The educational programming for both the meeting professional and hotel sales people is best in class. Best of all, it is free for meeting professionals. Despite the poor economy last year, attendance surpassed 2,000 people demonstrating the value event professionals place on the show.
